Kings Bay MSF Pier, GA Daily Water Report — October 8, 2026

Kings Bay is a qualified go for boating, kayaking and diving today, but it is not a glassy-water day: expect a persistent 1.1–1.4 m sea with a short 5.5-second wave rhythm and an easterly swell near 1.04 m. The good news is modest NNE wind, around 6 knots representative and generally 3.6–12.6 knots, plus a light ocean current near 0.08 m/s toward the southwest. The tradeoff is plenty of cloud, a humid feel, and a broad rain window running from 2 AM through 10 PM even though representative precipitation is zero. For anglers, the strongest timing is the late-morning solunar major period from 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM, overlapping the falling tide after the 7:51 AM high. The 1:48 PM low is the day’s lowest water, followed by a useful evening push toward the 8:11 PM high; the 5:15–6:15 PM solunar minor period lands during that rise. Fishing rates a workable 6.6/10, with rising pressure from about 1012 to 1016 hPa helping the overall setup. Keep expectations sensible: the 13.1 km visibility figure is atmospheric visibility, not a reading of water clarity. Boaters get the day’s best score at 7.2/10, while kayaking is close behind at 7.1/10. Both benefit from the comparatively light wind, but the short-period waves can make exposed water feel busier than the wind alone suggests. The calmest wave height is only forecast near 8 PM, at about 1.12 m, so “calmest” is relative. Diving leads the board at 7.8/10 thanks to warm 28.2 C surface water and manageable wind, though the sea state still deserves a careful surface assessment. Compared with Wednesday’s stronger 14.8-knot wind and lower boating and paddling scores, today is an improvement for small craft. It remains less settled than the notably easy conditions earlier this week. Friday and Saturday look rougher and wetter, with peak winds near 23 and 20 knots and waves up to 1.7–1.8 m. Conditions ease Sunday, then turn markedly calmer Monday through Wednesday. Best bet: launch the small boat or paddle craft early, fish the late-morning falling tide, and be back with a plan before the weather has a chance to write its own report.
