The calmest wave heights, around 0.26 meters, arrive just after midnight, so if you’re a serious early riser, the pre-dawn hours are genuinely flat. By late morning expect the sea to build toward the half-meter range with a short-period wind wave component that’s more annoying than dangerous. That’s actually a tick up from yesterday’s 5.1, but the building onshore wind will chop up what little form exists. If you absolutely need to paddle out, go during the morning slack tide. Compared to the past few days, today’s pattern is more unsettled. Yesterday offered similar diving and better boating scores, and Monday was a gem for sailors at 9.1. We’re slipping from those highs into a typical late-August transition where afternoon instability becomes the rule. Looking ahead, Friday brings lighter winds and zero rain chance – a cleaner day for all surface activities. Saturday through Monday looks even better as the wind relaxes further and wave heights continue to shrink. The upcoming week shows a warming trend that might push air temperatures past 30 degrees by Tuesday, but that comes with a 34 percent rain chance. Best bet: Get your lines wet or your sail up before noon, because the wind that builds through the afternoon is the kind that turns a good plan into a fight.
