Eagle Point, Galveston Bay, TX Daily Water Report — October 5, 2026

Eagle Point is a good sailing day, a workable fishing day, and a choose-your-window day for everyone else. The NNE wind is doing most of the talking: a representative 16 knots with gusts to 24, plus short 0.48 m wind waves at 2.6 seconds, gives sailboats useful pressure but makes small craft work harder than the wave height alone suggests. Sailing leads the board at 8.5/10; boating is 6.1 and kayaking 5.6, so this is not the day to confuse “manageable” with “relaxed.” The early high tide at 7:59 AM coincides closely with the 8:13–10:13 AM solunar major period, making morning the cleanest fishing window on the schedule. Fishing rates 6.7/10, slightly better than the last several days, with stable 1015 hPa pressure helping the overall setup. A second major period runs 8:13–10:13 PM, but it arrives after the 9:54 PM low tide and after sunset, so it is a lower-light, more tide-sensitive proposition. The 14:43–15:43 minor period is the better daylight backup. For paddlers and smaller open boats, patience pays. Waves are forecast to ease from a 0.3–0.6 m day range to their calmest near 7 PM, around 0.32 m, though the late-afternoon 5–6 PM rain window is an obvious wrinkle. Gusts peaked near 6 AM at 26 knots, but wind remains the principal tradeoff through the day. Diving scores 6.9/10, unchanged from yesterday, yet the available atmospheric visibility of 17.1 km is not a read on underwater visibility. NOAA CoastWatch chlorophyll is very high at 5.78 mg/m³; that indicates bloom conditions, not a promise of clear water or fish activity. Compared with the quieter Oct. 2 conditions, today is choppier and less forgiving for boats and kayaks, while sailing remains consistently strong. The forecast improves notably Tuesday and Wednesday: lighter winds and 0.1–0.4 m, then 0.1–0.3 m waves should make for gentler water before waves rebuild later in the week. Best bet: rig the sail early, fish the morning high-tide major period, and let the gusts have the last word rather than you.
