Morgans Point, Barbours Cut, TX Daily Water Report — October 5, 2026
Morgans Point gets a qualified green light today: good water for boating, sailing, fishing and diving, with paddlers needing to give the gusts more respect than the wave height suggests. The marine forecast is notably tame, with waves running 0.1–0.3 m and a representative 0.28 m at a short 2.45 seconds. They ease toward the day’s minimum near 9 PM, around 0.14 m. That is flat-water territory, not a license to ignore a NNE wind that ranges from 4.3 to 11.6 knots and can still throw gusts into the 20s; the strongest forecast gust, 24.5 knots, is early at 3 AM. The most useful daylight window is after sunrise through the morning high tide at 8:11 AM, particularly during the 8:12–10:12 AM solunar major period. Fishing rates 6.7/10, helped by the tide timing, stable 1016 hPa pressure and manageable seas. A second solunar major period runs 8:12–10:12 PM, but it arrives after sunset and well into the falling tide, which bottoms at 0.06 m at 11:24 PM. Plan access and return routes accordingly; that low-water finish can make a simple shoreline launch or ramp approach less forgiving. Sailing earns 6.8/10 and boating 6.7/10: enough breeze to work with, but gust spread and 82% cloud cover keep this from being a carefree postcard day. Kayaking is a more modest 5.9/10, chiefly because a small chop can still feel busy when gusts arrive. Diving scores 7/10 under the low-wave setup, though no marine water temperature is available and the reported 16.6 km atmospheric visibility should not be mistaken for underwater visibility. CoastWatch chlorophyll is very high at 6.49 mg/m³; that is bloom-condition water, not a promise of fish or clear subsurface conditions. Compared with the recent reconstructed history, boating is level with yesterday but below the stronger October 3 and September 28 setups; sailing is also a step down from yesterday’s 7.2. Fishing remains solid, just shy of yesterday’s 6.9. The next several days stay generally gentle, with Tuesday and especially Wednesday looking very flat; Wednesday’s forecast calls for 0.1 m waves and peak wind near 7.6 knots. Best bet: fish the morning high-tide window, then let the gusts—not the tiny waves—make the final call.
