Limetree Bay, VI Daily Water Report — August 23, 2026

Sailing owns the water at Limetree Bay today, with diving a close and equally honest second; the kayak can stay dry. Open-Meteo has the breeze near 11 knots out of the east, a day range of about 7 to 14 knots, and only a quarter of the sky covered—the mix of wind, consistency, waves, and cloud that lifts sailing to 9.2, a clear step up from yesterday’s 8.2. The same air is the tradeoff: representative gusts to 25 knots, and a peak near 31 knots around noon, so what makes a sailboat happy will punish anything small and paddle-driven. Diving holds at 8.6, unchanged from Saturday, on forecast seas around a meter, marine water at 29.2 C (a tenth or two above average in the NOAA CoastWatch record), and the clarity that score is allowed to use. That is a conditions match, not a clearance. Atmospheric visibility near 15 km is not underwater visibility. A 1.5 m/s current setting toward 300 degrees is the other number that should stay in your head if you go below or get underway. Waves are forecast between 0.9 and 1.1 meters, calmest near 18:00 at 0.94 meters, with a short period near 5 seconds and a 0.9-meter swell from 110 degrees. Surfing stays a respectable 7.2 on that setup, same as yesterday. Boating slips to 5.6 from 6.4 on the wind, the chop, that current, and a rain window flagged from 04:00 to 18:00 even though representative precipitation is still zero. Kayaking falls to 3.8 from 5.1 for the same reasons, only more so. Fishing sits at 5.9, a notch below Saturday, with stable pressure near 1014 hPa, a tiny NOAA tide (low 0.01 m at 09:14, high 0.28 m at 20:56), and solunar majors at 15:21–17:21 and 03:21–05:21. Wildlife is a quiet 5.7. Air is warm—representative 29.2 C, feeling like 32—and mostly dry under light cloud. The next several days stay hot while rain chances jump to 77 and 86 percent on the 24th and 25th, then ease some as waves slowly build toward 1.2–1.3 meters midweek. Best bet: put a sail up before the noon gust and save the dive for the slightly quieter evening sea.
